Hebrews 12:2
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Jesus is the starter and the finisher of our Christian journey. Some other translation says leader and instructor. Our responsibility is to continue to look unto Him, and keep on looking to Him. We don't look to Him once, and then that's it. It is a continual and ongoing process. Looking to Jesus, we never stop doing this, and He will never stop being the initiator, and prefecter of our faith.
It is similar to the bronze snake that Moses set up in wilderness.
Numbers 21:4-9
4 They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way;
5 they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, "Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the desert? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!"
6 Then the LORD sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died.
7 The people came to Moses and said, "We sinned when we spoke against the LORD and against you. Pray that the LORD will take the snakes away from us." So Moses prayed for the people.
8 The LORD said to Moses, "Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live."
9 So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, he lived.
Just like we started our Christian Journey saying Jesus is Lord, I think ending our Christian Journey in Christ is even more important. Many times we start quite well, with lots of vigor and excitement, how somewhere down the lane, we begin to lose track and deviate. Ending is so important, we are actually judged according to how we finish!
We need to ask ourselves few questions;
Where is my eyes fixed on?
Is it on an insecure future?
Is it on money?
Is it on leaders?
Is it on the TV/ Computer...?
Is it on my family?
Is it on my past mistakes? Regrets? Failures? Glory?
Where are we going to end? Is Jesus our end?
